Client: Thames Water - Blunsdon STW

The problem

The aeration tank at Blunsdon STW was originally installed with “Helixor” coarse bubble aerators and these were no longer able to cope with the increased load on the plant.

It was not possible to take the aeration tank out of service to upgrade as it is the only aeration tank on the site. Thames Water approached Suprafilt for a solution.

The solution

Following a meeting on site, Suprafilt offered and subsequently installed a solution where the existing aerators where removed in sections by divers and replaced with Suprafilt single Lift Out Grids fitted with Suprafilt OM2.0m Oval Membrane diffusers. This was all carried out without taking the plant out of service and without disruption to the process.
