The problem

With only 2 aeration lanes at Lemonroyd, it would be difficult to take one lane out of service for maintenance. Earth Tech Morrison approached Suprafilt for a liftable solution which would not compromise efficiency.

The solution

Suprafilt offered a solution which was made up of 9 liftable grids with diffuser quantities tapered across 3 aeration zones arranged such that any one grid can be removed without disruption to the process. Originally Suprafilt offered liftable grids with OM2.0m long oval membrane tube diffusers but in order to achieve a higher efficiency, an alternative was offered using MF650 membrane plate diffusers which were ultimately selected and installed. The system passed its oxygen transfer test achieving a Standard Oxygen Transfer Efficiency (SOTE) of 6.1% per metre water depth and a Standard Aeration Efficiency (SAE) of 3.66kgO2/kwhr.
