Three Suprafilt staff getting ready for Tough Mudder Challenge

Three staff members from Rochdale-based Suprafilt are gearing up to take part in the Tough Mudder Challenge next month.

Project engineers Anthony Williams, 25, and Adam Gaskell, 28, along with finance and admin assistant Kim Brough, 22, will be taking part in the North West Tough Mudder on September 12.

It will take place at Cholmondeley Estate in Cheshire, where the trail winds through parklands, dark forest trails and thick heavy mud.

Anthony Williams explained that Tough Mudder is a 10 -12 mile obstacle course over harsh terrain, with various obstacles along the way. It is designed to test physical and mental strength.

“There’s barbed wire fences and tall walls of wood to get over. We’ll drop down a fireman’s pole into a ring of fire and we’ll be dunked in an ice bath. We even get electrocuted at the end!”

The trio are training together at the moment, by going for runs and building upper body strength through pull-ups, sit-ups, push-ups and they’re usually at Link for Life Gym in Rochdale three times a week.

They’re trying to raise money for various charities – The Christie Hospital, Cancer Research UK and the Miscarriage Association.

Suprafilt Limited is based on Albion Industrial Estate in Rochdale, and specialises in the design, installation and commissioning of both fixed and lift-out fine-bubble diffused aeration systems for municipal and industrial sewage treatment plants.
