-   News Suprafilt secures Blackburn wastewater contract

Aeration specialists Suprafilt are celebrating after being named as sub-contractors on Europe’s largest Nereda plant.

Suprafilt, based in Rossendale, are one the sub-contractors for Laing O’Rourke (LiMA) working on the multi-million pound project.

Suprafilt will be responsible for the in-tank aeration grids during an upgrade to the existing waste water treatment site located in Samlesbury.

The company, which employs 45 people, will be manufacturing and installing just under 19 miles of pipework – roughly the distance between their factory and the Blackburn site during the intensive programme of work. The site will use Nereda waste water technology that offers a sustainable solution for municipal and industrial water. The natural sewage treatment process purifies waste water without chemicals by using patented aerobic technology.

Hannah Nolan, Operations Director at Suprafilt, said: “It’s a big job and we feel that our knowledge and expertise will shine on this project. We have a proven design for this combined grid system and is a similar style to previous installations we have successfully designed and installed. “This project is a big win for us because it good for Suprafilt to be linked to the biggest Nereda plan in Europe.”

Work at the site will commencein July, with Suprafilt expected to be on site from August for approximately 6 months.
