Suprafilt was commissioned by contractor AECOM, on behalf of client GCA, to supply a new aeration system to Liverpool Wastewater Treatment Works for United Utilities.

The company, who design and manufacture energy efficient fine bubble diffused aeration solutions, together with a range of stainless-steel products including pipework and pressure vessels, will be delivering a high efficiency in-tank aeration system comprising of more than 70,000 9inch disc diffusers.

The diffusers will be mounted on environmentally friendly polypropylene pipes which are fed by 316 stainless steel header pipes.  The aeration system at Liverpool is the third of only three ‘double decker’ aeration systems in the world, and comprises 16 basins in total.

The project started on site in August 2013 and was completed by July 2014.
